GSC ARCHIVES: Jay Films: A Push Across America

41 hours by car, 5 hours by plane, 60 hours by bus, and 42 DAYS on foot. That's how long it would take to get from California to New York, an insane distance of over 2,700 miles from coast to coast. A trip most people wont get to experience in a lifetime -an amazing experience on its own. And now I come to find out that two crazy guys on YouTube are actively attempting this incredible feat. And no, not in a tricked out camper with all the amenities, or even on bikes, but on skateboards, with only what they can carry on their backs.

Jason Vanporppal better known as Jay Films and Orio first embarked on their journey on on Oct 1 of this year and have been pushing across America ever since. So far they have documented 35 days of their journey on YouTube. Traveling around 40-50 miles per day solely by Skateboard, the duo have traveled over 1,500 miles and show no signs of slowing down. I've personally been watching Jay Films for a minute, I always enjoy watching him and his other homies skate vlogs and I genuinely fuck with the content and their style of vlogging. This series in particular though has definitely opened up the vlogs in a different way. Not only are we getting some dope scenery and backgrounds as the two travel across America but we are also seeing the beauty in interacting with our communities. Its so cool to see how many people pull over on the side of the road to offer water or just to inquire about the guys well being. It's also nice to see how quickly people remember their childhood days when they would be skating around, its almost like they can once again appreciate the simplicity of it all.

The more I think of what these two are doing the crazier it gets. The immense strain they are putting on their bodies to continuously  push over whatever terrain comes at them, in the middle of no where, and in the dark- these dudes are on some Goggins shit! Not to mention any donation or money they build up on their way to New York is being donated to give kids proper skate gear to make life more enjoyable, they are truly an inspiration and comes to show no matter where you come from you can make a positive difference in your communities if you so chose to.
