Artist Showcase: BUNNY ALIEN GIRL

BUNNY ALIEN GIRL

In the world of music, bassists often play a pivotal role in shaping the groove and rhythm of a song. But what happens when a bassist not only lays down the foundation but also composes and records their own music? We sit down with the talented Bunny Alien Girl to explore her unique journey of rhythm, melody, and creativity. Join us as we delve into her world and uncover the artistry of a bassist who wears multiple hats.

1. Can you tell us about your musical background and what first inspired you to become a musician?

I would always escape home life as a child putting on my headphones jamming out. That was my escape. With my eyes closed I’d envision myself on a stage with my band. I feel the love and unity when I experience music in any way I get to.

2. How would you describe your music in terms of genre and style? Are there any artists or bands who have had a significant influence on your sound?

I’d describe my music as being hauntingly lingering. I’m very influenced by the grunge era back with Nirvana and Pj Harvey. My genre is Alternative / Metal! There’s many bands that influenced me. The top 3 are Dance Gavin Dance (2007-2013 era) I would not miss any of there shows getting down in the mosh pits until 2015! Second band is Deftones! I love the sensual goth vibe they bring with also Nu metal influences. The singing with screaming is my vibe! Third is Blondie I love the Retro Glam rock that band serves! Rocking out comes in different forms.

3. Could you walk us through your typical songwriting process? Where do you find inspiration for your lyrics and melodies?

My inspiration comes from pouring it out whether it is trauma or Happy times. My emotions are definitely let out in my music process. It’s a form of healing, being vulnerable with the world. My Melodie’s come from allowing myself to feel the music.

4. Many artists have a "go-to" place or routine that helps them get in the creative mindset. Do you have any specific rituals or environments that aid your songwriting and recording process?

My rituals are honestly to go into it as relaxed as you can. I smoke my ganja, burn my incense and stretch taking your time. You can’t rush it because then it will be forced.

5. Can you share a memorable or challenging experience you've had while recording or producing one of your songs or albums?

The challenge is Vulnerability since that seems to be difficult for many. And vulnerability for me is blooming no matter how difficult the past was leading to share that we’re not alone. ‘Tea party’ for sure triggered me but has helped me realize there’s some old sounds to heal. Stay strong babes.

6. Many artists experience writer's block or creative slumps. How do you overcome these challenges when they arise?

I’ve experienced writers block a few times! I didn’t understand it as a teen. I would get frustrated why the pen wouldn’t move since I love to journal and write poetry. My body knew to not force it. Now understanding it more I just don’t create if I’m not feeling anything. It would be meaningless at that point. MY PURPOSE IS TO FEEL.

A message from Bunny Alien Girl:

Hey there!  My name’s Bunny Alien Girl and I’m an alternative singer and bassist!  I also enjoy painting, writing, and designing hairstyles. Recently, I released my first solo album “Tea Party”. With this album I let out so many emotions ending it with the track “Closure”. It’s an alternative/metal project, and we got pretty personal! Adversity creates wisdom, and Grief never ends. I allow myself to create through any emotion. Keeping it raw. It feels natural doing it no matter what state I’m in.

THE MIDNIGHT CULT

I’m also apart of a Indie band called “The Midnight Cult” performing vocals and bass! My partner plays the keys and mixes/masters our albums! We do it all from our home studio! Our first album was released March 20th 2023 ‘Objects in the Mirror are Closer Than They Appear’ and our second album ‘Strange Omens’ released June 5th, 2023. My partner and I draw inspiration from jamming out, and experimenting with different sounds and rhythms. We’re currently recording new music!
